Originally by: Taiss1 Myself being in only few corps I don't have much knowledge about running one except from few posts by others. Specific questions I have are: - How do you get from corporate spending to corporate profit? (any ideas are highly appreciated) - What are the guidelines for choosing a location for headquarters; particularly, which region, security status and player's alliances? This leads to next one - What are the ways to find out which player alliances are hostile (to others and towards my corporation) and what is their size (approximate)? - What political model would you recommend to adopt to an industrial corporation? (like communism, capitalism, police state, kibutz etc.) I know this might seem like asking for a lot of info, but I don't expect anyone to tell me their big secrets. Guidelines will do a great job, since I couldn't find any definitive info on these topics, while other aspects of EVE are widely interpreted and have written guides. Any ideas/suggestions will help a lot! If you know of a guide to running a corp or similar source please let me know.
1. From spending to profit. It really depends on what sort of corp you are. If you are an industrial corp you will obviously have to shell out for the blueprints you are going to be using to make stuff. Once you have them then you can mine what you need at no cost, which is far better than buying them in. So after the initial outlay its pure profit. If you are a pvp corp then taxing your members each month helps, providing you employ self suficcient people. This way you can buy the corp ships and equipment that may be needed. This is a communist model and in my experience works well. Obviously tax should scale with the opportunities your members have to make cash. 100 mil+ a month would ofc not work for a small corp. I'd suggest maybe 10-20mil per member for corps with less than 100 people if you are not in 0.0 space.
2. Location - for industrial start out with an office close to where you can get a good source of minerals and a trade hub so you can sell your stuff. For pvp somewhere close to people you can fight is good, aswell as somewhere away from the front lines for a safer place to make money.
3. To find out which corps/alliances are hostile or friendly the best bet is to either contact a leader or officer and talk things through with them, or side with someone you think would benefit your corp and ask about forming a friendship or join their alliance.
4. THe model you use should be what you think works best for you and your members.
Hope this helps.
